To keep every book exchange smooth, safe, and trustworthy, we recommend the following best practices for all users.

Rook Exchange Policy
1. Meet in a Public Place 🤝

Always meet in a safe, well-lit public area for all in-person exchanges.

  • Recommended locations include a **café, mall, university library, or coworking space.**
  • Avoid **private residences** or secluded locations to ensure maximum safety.
2. Confirm Details In-App Chat 📱

All arrangements (rental terms, time, place) should be discussed and agreed upon **only within the Rook app chat**.

This ensures there is a digital record for accountability and provides essential evidence in case of a dispute. **Do not move to external messaging apps.**
3. Verify Book and User Details ✅

Before completing the exchange, always perform the following checks:

  • Ensure the **book matches its listing** (condition, title, edition).
  • Verify the user's **name and phone number** match their Rook profile.
  • Confirm that all necessary payments have been processed via the **Rook wallet**.
4. Avoid Direct Cash Deals (Use Rook Wallet) 💳

All transactions must go through the Rook wallet system to ensure security, accountability, and eligibility for refunds and protection.

**Do not use cash or external payment methods**. Transactions outside the app are not protected by our system and may lead to account suspension.
5. Maintain Punctuality and Respect ⏱️

Timely exchanges and good manners build trust in the community.

  • Be on time for the agreed-upon exchange.
  • If you are running late, always **communicate the delay immediately** via the Rook app chat.
6. Report Suspicious or Unsafe Behaviour 🚨

If someone acts suspiciously or violates any guidelines, please report them immediately:

  • Use the **"Report"** feature within the user's profile or chat in the app.
  • Alternatively, you can email us at **support@rook.co.ke**.
